Are you the Marvin Dockery that graduated from Everett High School Cass of 1960? We are updating our class records. Would like to have an address, phone number and e mail address. We are having a class Reunion Oct 6 in the Old Everett High Gym. Potluck, Gather at 4 PM, Picture at 5, Meal to follow. ( can you believe that it has been 50 years since you did our Wedding Pictures. We have so enjoyed them thru the years).

I am in Tennessee and about to start my spring camping. Still in the old truck camper, but with good insulation, eight hundred watts of solar power, I stay warm, and have 12 volt and AC power every where. On sunny days three of the eight panels would be enough, but in shade or clouds it takes all eight to charge the four golf cart batteries.

New print offerings on ebay will go up soon. My eBay seller ID is modelsmodels.

I went off grid in 2006. It has been hard to make the change, and until getting the solar panels my gas and propane bill for generators and heat often topped $250.00 in the clolder winter months.
Since mid December 2016 I have spent under $60.00 for propane, and never cranked the generator. Big difference.

I often camp in the Snowbird Mountains west if Robbinsville, NC., and on Citico Creek in Tennessee. There are also several free places between the two locations.
Limits average two weeks in one spot.
A short drive is often required to get phone signals or to check emails.

Finding lost items left by other campers has become a hobby.

Its June in 2016 and I am visiting a friend in the mountains of eastern Arizona.
He has Internet, so a new message. I do read the guestbook here from time to time, but today most of my time is spent in an old truck camper in national forrests where camping is free, but no Internet.
Library's block me from getting on my website because of the nudes. But I refuse to pull them.
Many thanks to everyone who leaves a message.

I have been away from the internet most of 2015, but hope to get these pages updated soon. There are still a few pictures of the piers at Newport to copy and display. I am still looking for Paul Willis. He worked in the Chaplains office at Newport in 1961 - 62.

If history is any source of credibility my memory is that I had basic training in San Diego beginning Sept 1959 until Dec 1959 then on to Pensacola then to Whiting (Milton) where I was assigned to Crash and Rescue on North Field. Who knows if there any crossing of paths along the way. If I can find your albums of picture would like to view them. John Howard

Hi Marvin:
I enjoyed your picture of Milton, Fl as that is my hometown. I may have met you at the Milton USO. I was a USO hostess there in 1960 and my Mom became the director after Mrs. Smith "Smitty" retired. I loved all the hours I spent at the USO. I learned to dance, met a lot of great guys, had lots of pen pals after they left. I miss those wonderful times. I support the USO here in Pensacola, Florida. Such a wonderful organization.

Was on many of the ships at Newport during that time when they were doing their firing exercises to earn their 'E'. Ernie collected early LP music albums in the late 1950's. His only boat in 1960 was an 9 ft pram, that he built from plans. We fished out of it a few times off Blackwater River, at Milton, FL. He was interested in buying large Junks in Asia and then sailing them to france for some profit.
He had two sisters, and I am trying to locate one of them. One died, and now both my be gone. He lived in southern N.M. when he was five, but was born in Texas to kentucky born father, and a tesas born mother.

Thank you for your comments. If you have any photographs of Ernie let me know. I can display them here and give you credit. I have space for at least a thousand more images.

I was a Combat Photographer, out of NAS North Is., San Diego from 1978-84 and made many trips to Subic Bay. We had 6 month deployments there. Yes, I knew Ernie Gaines and spent alot of time at his beautiful Beach. I loved it and have great memories of staying there. I just saw the photos on another website and was shocked at what I saw. My Combat Camera Unit had many parties out at his beach and I spent many weekends out there. I will never forget his stories, big band music at night playing at the bar with the roar of a generator humming in the background. The hike up to the falls and skinny dipping with my LBFM made it very special. I shall never forget!!! From going to bed in the little cabins with the mosquito coils burning to waking in the morning having a strong cup of Joe and later throwing horseshoes with Ernie made it so worthwhile. Seeing the Dingo breed dogs hanging around the bar while drinking San Magoos with Ernie telling stories of Thunderbird sailboat races around Snake Island was a highlight of my time in the P.I.

I remember the crash, and another photographer made crash site photos.

Nothing was found wrong with the plane's engine. The cylinders were photographed on the inside, and there was no lockup, or scoring found.

His helment was cracked, as if he had passed two close under another plane, or another plane had crossed too close over his, and the planes prop had come through his canopy.

I was told that his plane went into a long shallow glide, and then crashed.

I turned sixty nine in September of 2010. It seems like my navy time was only a few years ago. A lot of the guys have died, and others are now in nursing homes. Some are even homeless.

Newport, RI is now back to being a rich mans place with the rooms in some of the hotels running as much as eight hundred dollars a night.

Thanks for leaving comments on the pictures. I hope to add a few more of Newport, and San Diego soon

The images and comments in these galleries are made with brutal honesty, compassion and high technical skills. We have an artist at work here. Congrat!!

I have been a photographer/collector since 1984. Marvin is one of those photographers I love to collect. The execution is flawless, both in technical aspects and the asthetics. His subjects always seem more interesting than most photographers and judging from the results, he has a deeper connection to his models than just as a photographer. I would suspect that the models themselves value his photographs more than other photographers they have shot with. His photographs are a bargin today. In the years to come he will be highly collected. Photographers like Marvin are a vanishing breed and a national treasure.
